Aquaculture health additive strategy

Disease outbreaks have a severe impact on the productivity, profitability and sustainability of aquaculture operations.

Health management remains the number one challenge for all farmed species. At the same time, the impact of therapeutics on the environment and food safety is coming under increasing scrutiny.

Optimizing health through preventive disease control strategies boosts feed and farm performances, resulting in more profitable and sustainable aquaculture.

Health strategies based on species-specific applied science:

Our Health R&D Program addresses health issues threatening fish and shrimp production. Its goal is to understand the problem, develop specific solutions and application strategies, and confirm the efficacy of those solutions under controlled lab and field conditions.

We focus on:

  1. antimicrobial, antiviral, and antiparasitic actions
  2. anti-inflammatory action
  3. immunomodulation
  4. promotion of a healthy gut microbiota
  5. integrity of key tissues, including the gut, skin, liver and hepatopancreas
