Aqualyso: A Cost-Effective Alternative to Lecithin in Shrimp Feed

A recent study has shown that the LPL-based additive AQUALYSO can fully replace lecithin in shrimp feeds, offering a cost-effective solution for the industry. Lecithin, valued for its high phospholipid content, is essential for shrimp growth by supporting nutrient absorption, but its fluctuating cost and availability present challenges for feed producers.

Lyso-phospholipids (LPLs), used to enhance digestion and absorption in aquafeeds, provide a viable alternative to lecithin. In this study, Pacific whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) fed a diet containing 0% lecithin and 0.1% AQUALYSO showed comparable growth performance and feed efficiency to shrimp fed a diet containing 2% lecithin. These findings prove AQUALYSO as a substitute for lecithin, and as an alternative to achieve flexibility in formulation and maintain the performance quality of shrimp feed under logistics and price challenges.
