The study investigates the probiotic Bacillus subtilis 29784 (Bs29784) and its impact on chicken intestinal health via its secreted metabolites: hypoxanthine (HPX), niacin (NIA), and pantothenate (PTH). Using in vitro models, the research reveals how these metabolites influence three key aspects of intestinal resilience: immune response, intestinal barrier, and microbiota. Key findings include:
Vegetative Cells vs. Spores : Bs29784 vegetative cells are more effective in reducing inflammation compared to spores, suggesting the benefits are linked to metabolic activity.
Metabolite Effects:
Fermentation Profiles:
Overall, Bs29784 positively influences intestinal health by acting on the three lines of resilience: immune response, intestinal barrier integrity, and microbiota composition through its secreted metabolites.
Microbiomepost conducted an exclusive interview with Nuria Vieco, Adisseo France S.A.S, European Laboratory of Innovation Science and Expertise ELISE, about the effect of Bacillus subtilis DSM29784 secreted metabolites on poultry resilience.
