Adisseo Research Grant 2025: Advancing Scientific Excellence for a Sustainable Swine Industry

At Adisseo, we believe that meaningful progress in animal production can only be achieved through bold science and strong collaboration. This conviction lies at the core of the Adisseo Research Grant (ARG), a €1 million global initiative designed to accelerate transformative research in animal nutrition, environmental stewardship, and One Health.

Launched in 2018 and now in its third edition, the ARG goes beyond financial support. It acts as a catalyst for cooperation between academia and industry, helping visionary researchers turn innovative ideas into practical solutions. We are proud to empower international teams who share our commitment to building a more sustainable, efficient, and responsible livestock sector.

In 2025, the grant focused on swine nutrition, and three outstanding research projects were selected for their scientific excellence, practical relevance, and potential to deliver long-term impact. We are honored to introduce the three laureates of the Adisseo Research Grant 2025.

Advancing Precision Feeding for Gestating Sows – October 13^th 2025

This ambitious initiative aims to redefine feeding strategies for gestating sows under heat stress by defining advanced modeling tools. By tailoring nutrient supply to individual needs, the project seeks to increase efficiency, improve welfare while significantly reducing environmental impact, a perfect example of how precision nutrition can benefit producers and the planet.

Understanding Piglets Appetite to Improve Welfare and Performance – October 3^rd 2025

The FEAST-PIG project explores the biological mechanisms that drive appetite in piglets, aiming to deepen our understanding of feeding behavior. By identifying the physiological signals that regulate intake, this research could pave the way for innovative nutritional strategies that enhance productivity while supporting animal welfare and ensuring long-term sustainability across the entire value chain.

Smarter Protein Nutrition Through Real-Time Monitoring – October 2^nd 2025

• Consortium: Giuseppe Bee et Marion Girard, Agroscope, Switzerland

This forward-thinking project focuses on developing a real-time monitoring system for protein efficiency in weaned piglets. By continuously tracking individual responses, the system will enable more precise protein management, helping to reduce overfeeding, improve feed conversion, and minimize nitrogen emissions. These are critical levers for achieving both economic and environmental sustainability.
