Lysolecithins have proven their value in improving feed utilization and give the opportunity to decrease production costs by reformulating expensive diets while maintaining performance.
In a world where performance and cost effectiveness are crucial for continuance of businesses, feed must be utilized to its fullest potential.
Main benefits of lysolecithins are enhancing the nutrient digestibility and nutrient absorption. In more detail: lysolecithins improve emulsification of fats and oils, increasing enzymatic potential. Above that, lysolecithins support mixed micelle formation and improve the permeability of the intestines, increasing nutrient absorption.
Based on these lysolecithins, FRA LeciMax is a cost-effective feed additive that improves FCR and ADWG. It enriches the feed formulation for monogastric animals in a production environment.
Improves fat digestibility and enhances energy utilization, especially in young animals.
On average up to 15% of fat remains undigested. By improving fat digestibility, FRA LeciMax improves profitability.
Allows flexible use of fat sources.
Under a specific time, temperature and pressure native lecithins are mixed with enzymes. During this unique process, enzymes cleave one (fatty acid) tail from lecithins: creating lysolecithins.
Both lysolecithins and native lecithins are amphiphilic molecules. Amphiphilic means that the molecule has a water-loving and a fat-loving side. The head group is water-loving and the fatty acid tails are fat-loving. As native lecithins have two fatty acid tails, they are relatively more fat-loving opposed to lysolecithins with only one fatty acid tail. This means lysolecithins are comparably more water-loving.
Enhances fat digestion across the 3 stages:
1. Emulsification: Large fat droplets are broken down into smaller ones by bile salts and FRA LeciMax, allowing for an increased surface area available for lipase action.
2. Hydrolysis: Lipase hydrolyzes triglycerides, forming smaller mixed micelles with FRA LeciMax. The improved emulsification leads to a more optimal enzyme environment and reduces physical fat barriers increasing all enzyme access to substrates.
3. Absorption: The smaller mixed micelles improve nutrient transport. FRA LeciMax enhances membrane permeability increasing the absorption of all nutrients.
One of the challenges a broiler producer faces, is maximizing profit at least cost while ensuring a high broiler performance. One of the key factors of broiler performance when looking at feed is the dietary nutrient density. This nutrient density can be regulated by feed additives like lysolecithins. Lysolecithins increase nutrient availability and reduce the need for high-density diets.
