The global transition toward carbon neutrality and the circular economy is accelerating, and companies are being called to balance economic growth with environmental responsibility. At Adisseo, we see this not as a constraint, but as an opportunity to create shared value. With + 85 years of expertise in animal nutrition, we remain true to our vision: delivering high-quality, safe, affordable and sustainable products for a growing population. Our ESG strategy is at the core of this ambition, guiding our innovation, our environmental efforts, and our social commitments.

Innovation at Sustainability Service

Every new development in our laboratories is designed with one clear objective: reducing environmental impact. From raw materials to processes and products, sustainability is integrated into every stage of our value chain. In 2024, more than 70% of our R&D resources were dedicated to low-carbon projects, with solutions that improve nutrient efficiency while lowering emissions of nitrogen, phosphorus and methane during animal growth. We look to the future by investing in research. Over the next three years, our grant program will dedicate RMB 15 million to university projects addressing major challenges such as climate change, antibiotic alternatives and precision nutrition. These innovations demonstrate how science can benefit both farmers and the planet. By the end of 2024, life cycle assessments had been completed for products representing 95% of our sales, allowing us to provide customers with transparent and science-based sustainability data.

Our production sites are also undergoing deep transformation. Over the past three years, energy efficiency projects have collectively saved nearly 288 terajoules of energy each year, thanks in particular to the installation of waste heat recovery systems across all facilities. At our Nanjing plant, a new initiative is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 45,000 tons annually while saving 1.5 million cubic meters of water. Looking forward, we plan to further raise catalyst recovery rates and increase the share of recycled plastic in our packaging, strengthening our contribution to the circular economy.

These actions are already showing tangible results: in 2024 our Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas intensity decreased by 16% compared with 2023.

Putting People First

At Adisseo, sustainability is not only about technology and processes: it is equally about people. Our philosophy of “zero loss” goes beyond financial performance and reflects our unwavering commitment to zero accidents and the protection of life.

Health and safety are also central to our operations. In 2024, the launch of Digissafe, our digital safety monitoring tool, helped us achieve a record-low Total Recordable Incident Rate of 0.1, underlining our excellence in workplace safety management. We also cultivate a culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every colleague, regardless of gender, background or disability, feels valued and supported within our organization. Beyond our walls, we engage with communities worldwide: in China, we contribute to rural revitalization through local sourcing, while in Spain and the Americas our teams support disaster relief, food aid and education programs.

Governance and Research for Long-Term Impact

Strong governance and a spirit of innovation are the foundations of Adisseo’s long-term approach to ESG. Our governance structure ensures that sustainability is integrated into decision-making at the highest levels, with dedicated ESG committees both at the executive and board level. Responsible sourcing policies extend these commitments across our supply chain, ensuring that our partners also contribute to our collective sustainability objectives.

Each year we invest in the growth of our teams, dedicating 2% of our payroll to training programs. In 2025 we strengthened our commitment to inclusion by signing the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles.

In 2024, we launched an internal Green Fund to support Scope 3 emissions reduction. The next step will be the deployment of a digital ESG monitoring system to automate data collection and provide real-time performance tracking, reinforcing transparency and accountability.

A Collective Journey Toward a Greener Future

As our CSR and Energy Manager, Esther NOVELLON, explains: “Growth and sustainability can - and must - go hand in hand. With the right strategy, companies can reduce their footprint while creating value, not only in their operations but across their entire ecosystem of suppliers, customers, and communities.”

From low-carbon innovations in our R&D centers to efficient energy projects at our production sites, and from community engagement initiatives to the internal Green Fund supporting Scope 3 emissions reduction, Adisseo is taking systematic and measurable action to advance its commitments.

For us, Sustainability is not just about compliance: it is about cultural transformation, technological progress and collaboration across the value chain. On this ongoing journey, we will continue to work hand in hand with our partners around the world to build a greener, more inclusive future for animal nutrition.
