Science Manager Feedstuffs Raw Material & Digestibility

Key responsabilities

Missions :

Within the framework of the R & D strategy and its defined roadmap, the Science Manager Feedstuffs Raw Material & Digestibility proposes and leads or directs the research and development programs in her/his field. These programs aim for developing new products and services (Projects), improving current solutions or to differentiate them from competition. She/he develops and maintains the acquired scientific skills through professional and scientific networks. She/he is attentive to developments in animal science, animal nutrition, feedstuffs, feed chemistry, animal biochemistry, animal physiology, mycotoxins

 

Key responsibilities :

Advices and defines strategies for the R&D teams in questions around “Feedstuffs Expertise“

  • Ensures scientific relevance and excellence of research trials in the field of feedstuffs, raw materials in relation to their composition, their antinutritional factors and their nutritional value and their sustainable use
  • Is key contributor in innovation projects in the field

 

Is responsible for scientific programs building and enriching the innovation portfolio

  • Ensures scientific and technical intelligence: scientific literature, congress, patents
  • Proactively identifies evolutions likely to generate new sources of Raw Materials or to improve their quality
  • Contributes to identifying product opportunities and / or risks related to the emergence of new Raw Materials for animal nutrition
  • Initiates and manages scientific collaborations to develop new concepts, new methodologies or new ideas
  • Proposes and implements scientific programs that will provide the knowledge and skills needed to develop new products or services

 

Leads the tasks/ missions within the frame of innovation projects

  • Participates in the definition of objectives, the implementation and the follow-up of the actions necessary for the completion of the projects. He/she focuses the efforts on efficiency and results, in consultation with the various departments involved (marketing, IP, regulatory, nutrition, chemistry…)
  • Is responsible for the tasks entrusted to her/him in the project, respects the timings and the budget and implements corrective actions
  • Communicates the progress of these actions to the team manager, the Project Director and the R&D team
  • Participates in Adisseo’s existing product / service development programs
  • Ensures the establishment and monitoring of the scientific and technical means necessary for the completion of programs for focusing on efficiency, respect of deadlines and the attributed budget
  • Communicates regularly the progress of these development works for which he / she is responsible
  • If requested, provides technical and scientific support to the worldwide sales teams in close collaboration with the strategic business unit teams
  • Develops technical and scientific communication (peer reviewed papers, active congress participation etc.).
  • Develops and maintains collaborations within the scientific community and builds a professional network

Dimensions :

  • Travel: ww, 10 – 30%
  • Interfaces:
    • Internal: Adisseo R&D teams (nutrition, product formulation, biotechnology, chemistry, analytics), business unit, market access, controlling, legal affairs, marketing, IP counsel
    • External: Academia, Key Opinion Leaders, customers, strategic partners of Adisseo

 

Main Skills

Skills and experiences :

  • Animal nutritionist or agronomist by training, PhD level would be a considerable plus
  • Very good knowledge of feedstuffs, raw material chemistry, poultry and/or swine nutrition, digestive physiology & health
  • Knowledge in mycotoxins and/or feed production technology would be a plus
  • Developed scientific network
  • Good knowledge of research management practices and trial design, monitoring and exploitation
  • Customer orientation, eager to put customer in the center of trial and program reflections
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment with cross-functional interfaces
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork spirit
  • Open minded, curious
  • English required, additionally French and/or Spanish and/or Chinese would be a strong plus
  • Experience with transversal management
  • Ability to analyze & summarize,

 

Work Experience :

  • More than 3 years in an R&D position in Corporate Research, Research Institute or University
  • Feed industry and/or feed additive industry knowledge is a considerable plus
  • Willingness to travel 10 – 30% tim
