Glyceride solution to reduce antibiotic usage: FRA® C12

banner

Lowering the necessity of using antibiotics

As antibiotic resistance has become an issue of global interest, many countries already have restricted both the therapeutic and non-therapeutic use of antibiotics. With these restrictions on Antibiotic Growth Promotors, pathogens and other challenges reoccurred in animal production. FRA® C12 is a practical solution to reduce the usage of Antibiotic Growth Promotors in animal production, while maintaining animal health and performance.

Strengthen the immune system & inflammatory response

Body defence systems are crucial for animal health and performance. A properly functioning immune system responds adequately to diseases and does not overreact when small challenges occur. Such overreactions can even restrict performance. Therefore, it is valuable to understand that certain glycerides have shown to support the animal’s immune system. Above that, reducing the negative impact of pro-inflammatory processes via anti-inflammatory compounds brings the livestock industry one step closer to achieve 100% genetic growth potential. FRA® C12 is developed as research has shown outstanding inflammation inhibiting properties of lauric acid glycerides. This feed additive reduces inflammation and improves immune system functioning.

Lauric acid glycerides

Glycerides are esters produced from glycerides and fatty acids. Alpha-monoglycerides consist of one fatty acid attached to the first position of the glycerol backbone. This unique molecular structure is responsible for their powerful anti-pathogenic activity and is known to be much stronger compared to the corresponding free fatty acids. Furthermore, they are pH-independent and therefore able to be active in the entire gastro-intestinal tract. Specifically, glycerides of lauric acid possess unique antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Enabling it to stimulate animal health via multiple modes of actions.
