Adisseo and Bluestar confirm the construction of their new fully integrated
Methionine base in China.
The project, will take place in Nanjing, a
developed chemical industrial city, with the strong support of local
authorities. The choice of this site is primarily driven by upstream and
downstream supply chain optimization purposes: not only the new Methionine plant
will benefit from the local abundant raw material supply such as natural gas,
propylene, methanol, and sulphur, but the site is also perfectly located to
easily serve the entire Asian continent.
The plant is expected to be up and
running in the second semester of 2012. Initially, the new unit will have an
annual capacity of 70,000 tons. It is also designed to double its capacity
to meet expected market growth.
The project takes advantage of Adisseo’s
state-of-the-art technology regarding every step of the process as well as
latest developments, as well as Bluestar’s strong industrial base.
On top of
this project, Adisseo announced in April an investment in its European
Methionine units to increase capacities by 25 KT in order to support the growth
of its customers for the 2010-2012 period.
