History

Adisseo’s history began in Commentry, France, in 1939 under the name Alimentation Equilibrée.

Founded by Marcel Lingot, a young graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique with a passion for animal feed, the company was dedicated to producing nutritional additives for livestock and very quickly became known for the quality of its methionine and vitamin A, produced on-site at Commentry, a site that is still active today.

This success, combined with its innovative capacities and control of quality and performances, led the company to be bought out by Rhône-Poulenc in 1971, when it became the group’s Animal Division. With Rhône-Poulenc’s international expansion in the 1980s, a production unit in the United States was added to the three European units.

The company became autonomous under the name Adisseo in 2002, grouping its nutrition research activities in Commentry with the CERN (Centre of Expertise in Nutrition Research).

In 2006,Adisseo joined the BlueStar group, a Chinese company that is the leader in new chemicals and specialty chemistry. CINAbio, the biotechnology R&D centre in Toulouse, was also created that year.

In 2008, Adisseo and BlueStar decided to invest in the construction of a new production unit in China, while making regular, consequential investments in modernizing and developing their industrial production facilities in Europe.

With 1,200 employees around the world, Adisseo is pursuing its mission to make better investments and ensure its customers and everyone of its concern for operational excellence and controlled quality for its products and production.
